The red wine Sassicaia 2015 of Tenuta San Guido is at the top of the world.
The recognition as the best wine in the world by Wine Spectator is equated with the Nobel Prize. For Italian wine Sassicaia 2015 is a real icing on the cake.
For the first time in its life the Sassicaia 2015 manages to go back to the top of the list of the best top 10 wines, only in 1991 Tenuta San Guido managed to enter the list of the best with vintage 1988.
Sassicaia wine was born almost randomly in the 40s in the San Guido estate of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta in Bolgheri in the province of Livorno. At the time the Tuscany Region was not renowned for viticulture and the same company was responsible for breeding horses.
It is precisely Mario Inciso of Rocchetta who decided to cultivate the international Bordeaux vineyards as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. For a long time the Sassicaia wine was produced for family use and was considered the house wine and was not marketed.
The first debut of Sassicaia occurred in 1967.
Another curiosity that the DOC denomination was not recognized in the Sassicaia wine until 1984. So much so that it is said that the denomination Bolgheri DOC was born in the Tenuta San Guido estate.
It is now the red wine Sassicaia 2015 is the best wine in the world is an Italian pride.
