Marchesi Frescobaldi - Tuscany - IGT red wine "Giramonte" - 2005

The Castiglioni is the center of origin of the wine production of the company of Marchesi Frescobaldi, which testifies the exploits since 1300. The estate extends along the ancient Via di Castiglioni, built by the Romans to unite northern Tuscany with Rome , Eternal City. The area was already famous at that time for the high quality of the agricultural crops and for centuries it was the center of intense traffic and a chosen place for the construction of luxurious Roman villas. Southwest of Florence, in the Val di Pesa, the area is ideal for the cultivation of elegant Sangiovese, but also of robust and lively Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. All the vineyards of the Marchesi Frescobaldi estate enjoy a warm and dry microclimate, with afternoon breezes coming from the Tyrrhenian sea. Here the grapes ripen more quickly and completely, giving the wines intense fruity notes, remarkable softness and refined structure. This is where the Giramonte, the rarest and most exclusive cru, was born in 1999. A cut of merlot and Sangiovese left to mature for about 16 months in barrique that leads to a wine of great intensity, rich, silky and of very long persistence.
TASTING NOTES Giramonte Marchesi Frescobaldi
The red wine "Giramonte" of Marchesi Frescobaldi at the tasting shows an intense ruby red color with light purple hues. On the nose it is surprising in intensity and complexity. Aromas of ripe fruit reminiscent of black cherry myrtle and wild blackberry blend with intriguing notes of toasted hazelnut, cocoa and coffee. In the mouth it is broad, velvety, distinguished by a delicate tannic texture that gives an elegant structure. On the finish, persistent notes of roasting and roasting create a harmonious and persistent aftertaste.
